Diane Stavrum

I have always felt energy from nature for landscapes. Most often i paint where I have lived from the mountain streams to the Pacific East Bay. Paint gives me freedom to find the feeling in the moment.

Animals are my love. Many of my paintings are of personal animal friends I've  encountered. Everything around us can inspire a thought or feeling.

Most of my portraits have been of family members.

My reviews have expressed that my watercolor paintings offer a unique living quality. Others also have said her talent gives her paitings a quality of expression that captures and uplifts the viewer.

I have been aprofessional artist since 1980 when I resigned as a public school teacher. I love to discover  and capture images  in color to create memories.

Diane graduated in 1969 with her B.F.A and M.F.A at Otis Art Institute. Diane's work has been shown and sold in galleries in Carmel and San Francisco, Fresno, Los Olivos, and Oakhurst.

Diane earned her California  Life Time Teaching Credentail in 1975 and Community College Credential in 1981.

Diane graduated from Episcopal Seminary at GTU, with a  M.Div. degree in 2007.

November 2015 Diane retired as the Chaplain on Staff at the Chaparral House, a skilled nursing home in Berkeley in now resides in Petaluma, California.

The source of most of my nature paintings are from the wildlife and beautiful scenery that surrounded my home on the Fresno River in the Sierras close to Yosemite National Park. Now in Petaluma I plan on painting the Main and Sonoma countryside.
