The art critic of the Fresno Bee, in Fresno Ca., Mr. Hale, recognized Diane's gifted ability creating compositions of movement with an exceptional ability. He said "she painted like a man." That was in 1980s, still a bit chavanistic but just the same given as a high compliment. It was said, Diane's work expresses a kind of intangible depth, as displayed with her exceptional draftsmanship, which brings lasting enjoyment and appreciation of her paintings.
The Madera City paper featured a full sheet article with pictures of Diane's paintings in 1983 recounting her success in nine national and regional watercolor juried exhibitions.
